Child advocates say child abuse is widespread but little acknowledged in Cambodia.
7PM: Narrated by Lucy Liu, "REDLIGHT" (2009, 72 mins) is a powerful documentary about child sexploitation in Cambodia. The film (presented by “Movies that Matter” and Dutch Embassy Bangkok) focuses on the personal stories of young victims, grass-roots activist Somaly Mam and politician Mu Sochua. Filmmakers Jacobson/Ezroni won the prestigious Global Hero Award.
8.30PM: THE VIRGINITY TRADE (2009, 69 mins) is a new doc film by UK filmmaker Matthew Watson. It’s a compelling and utterly alarming account of the lives of girls affected by the virginity trade that exists here.
