*Angkor using Ground Penetrating Radar.*

For the first time, GPR surveys have been used in Angkor on a major archaeological scale. Nevertheless even a fast surveying method such as GPR reaches its limits considering the extent of the archaeological park. By trying to validate and evaluate the known archaeological features from maps and aerials, GPR surveys conducted over three field seasons have revealed ancient river beds, engineered channels and structures. What is visible to the eye is sometimes only a small part of the whole extent of a feature.

The talk will cover different areas of the use and also failure of the GPR work and what conclusions can be drawn from the results. It will show survey results from the inside of some major enclosures including Banteay Sra, Chau Srei Vibol and the latest discoveries at the Angkor Wat.
