Just back from Prohear: An archaeological excavation and its consequences for the prehistory of SE Asia.
In Spring 2007, one of the richest prehistoric burial sites of Southeast Asia was found in Prohear village but almost completely looted by the villagers. The cemetery is located in the midst of the village in Prey Veng province about 65 km due east of Phnom Penh. In spring 2008, 2009 and 2011, three rescue excavations were conducted by a German-Cambodian team. In his talk, Andreas Reinecke from German Archaeological Institute will report on the latest excavation results and their significance for a new look at the prehistory in this region.
