Angkor, the Aventure of Baphuon
Directed by Didier Fassio, 52 min, 2009, French version
Forgotten and hidden under a rainforest for hundreds of years, Baphuon is one of the first monuments of the famous city of Angkor to be excavated in the early 20th century. It took a century of restoration for this “mountain temple” to reveal the extraordinary ingenuity and sophistication of the Khmer civilization. A century of construction punctuated by the often tragic episodes of Cambodian history. A century of uncertainty, but also determination by a handful of researchers and workers.
