World Day for Audiovisual Heritage: October 27, 2012 at 3:30pm

October 27, 2012 at 3:30pm: 6 Short films, 58min, Khmer version with English subtitles (Consequences, Human Trafficking, Life in the Cold Nest, Mosquito in Dreaming, The Beautiful Heart, and The Mountain Love)

Exhibition: October 27, 2012 - November 3, 2012; 8am – 6pm

Purpose:
In 2012, on the occasion of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, UNESCO and Bophana Audiovisual Resource Centre want to spotlight young Cambodian amateur filmmakers. This year's event will show screenings every Saturday in October followed by one week exhibition of photos making off. You will be able to see their films at the Bophana Center and ask them questions. They will share their experience and will show you that with little technical means it is possible to spread message and emotions through quality films.

Saturday 6, October - 4pm

15 Seconds 
Directed by Ma Chanpanha, 2min, 2012, Khmer version with English subtitles
It’s the story of four men who are driving drunk. One of them has a premonition that their car will hit a kid in 15 seconds.







Set the Goal
Directed by Chouk Sophea (SCY), 4min, 2011, Khmer version with English subtitles
Youth should plan their life, do not believe or follow others. For your future success, remember that you are the master of your destiny!




Youth and Facebook
Directed by Sim Vibol (SCY), 7min, 2011, Khmer version with English subtitles
The documentary is about the popularity of Facebook in Cambodia with comments from teenagers on the advantage and disadvantage of using this social network.






Iva
Directed by Ly Polen, 16min, 2012, Silent film with Khmer and English subtitles
One day, Iva, a female dog, disappeared from home. Fortunately, her master, a young girl, sets out to find her and save her life.

Boyfriend
Directed by Kon Khmer Koun Khmer, 15min, 2011, Khmer version with English subtitles
In order to guide his child on the right track, a father asks for help to a friend of his son. The relationship that develops between them makes the young man even more in anger against his father.






Valentine’s love
Directed by Hak Gentryman, 30min, 2012, Khmer version with English subtitles
This fiction is produced by a group of teenagers to show the triple love of youth.                



Saturday 20, October - 4pm

The Empty 
Directed by Heng Vichit, 5min, 2012, Khmer version with English subtitles
When a relationship comes to an end, it does not mean that the world stops spinning. It's just a part of life that is ending. So do not despair. This is what the main character of the film will live.


My Bike
Directed by Sum Monykeo (CCF), 5min, 2012, Silent film
Without the dialogues, this short film describes perfectly the relationship between a boy and his old bike.


2 Loves 
Directed by Chhorn Sophea (CCF), 5min, 2012, Khmer version with English subtitles
This film shows the difficulty to keep a couple united when the husband is distant with his wife.

Brown Belt
Directed by Sokha Mengly (CCF), 15min, 2010, English version
Chenda is a blue belt in karate. He dreams to take the brown belt at a competition but his level is still to low. With the help of his friend, he starts a hard training to try to realize his dream.

Ce film incite à prendre conscience des dangers provoqués par de mauvais comportements sur la route tel que conduire sans casque ou téléphoner.


Human Trafficking
Directed by Heng Vichit, 5min, 2012, Khmer version with English subtitles
Thousands of Cambodians have been trap in trafficking. The film brings people to have the awareness of this situation. 3 things to remember if you want to migrate: do not rush, do not trust anyone and do not give up your possession.



Life in the Cold Nest

A girl who needs love from her family wants to help people who need the same love as her and tries to achieve her goal in order to become a film maker.






Mosquito in Dreaming
Directed by Norm Phanith (Phare Ponleu Selpak), 6min, 2009, Khmer version with English subtitles
A little boy is dreaming that he goes to the castle of the mosquitoes, fights with them and kills them all.
But in fact it is the mosquitos which are bitting him because he is sleeping without a mosquito net.




The Beautiful Heart 
Directed by Chhoy, 10min, 2012, Mute with English subtitles
“I really love you, no matter who you are because you have a beautiful heart!” It is the love story of a handsome man with a deaf woman.



The Mountain Love
Directed by Hak Theamuny, 30min, 2012, Khmer version with English subtitles
The film is inspired by Cambodian classical movies which feature one couple who resists against the rich people that often persecute and exploit poor people.
