COLLOQUE SUR LES ÉTUDES KHMÈRES
-Inalco, Paris, 25-26 novembre 2011. Quelle(s) science(s) pour le pays khmer? Approches empiriques et théoriques

Vingt-trois ans après le premier symposium sur les études khmères*, l'Association d'Échangeset de Formation pour les Études Khmères (AEFEK), en partenariat avec le Centre Asie du Sud-Est (CASE, UMR8170, CNRS/EHESS), le Centre Asie du Sud et du Sud-Est (CASSE, ASIESEA4512, INALCO) et la revue Péninsule, propose de réunir un large panel de chercheurs khmérisants venant de toutes les disciplines en vue de dresser un état de la recherche sur le pays khmer et de dégager des perspectives pour l'avenir.
À travers la présentation des résultats de leurs travaux, le présent colloque invite les chercheurs à une interrogation épistémologique sur leur domaine de compétence. En particulier, le concept d'études khmères qui se dessine en filigrane des moyens et des mécanismes d'acquisition des connaissances à la disposition de la communauté des khmérisants (revues, débats, correspondances, références bibliographiques) est-il un cadre d'expression susceptible de s'affirmer comme un champ disciplinaire à part entière,avec ses méthodes, ses classiques et son historiographie? À l'inverse, faut-il préférer une logique disciplinaire transculturelle qui relativise le postulat d'une cohérence historique et culturelle propre au «terrain khmer» – soulignant en cela la vacuité d'un espace de recherche qui lui serait attaché – mais qui ce faisant véhicule une certaine avancée conceptuelle?
Les deux axes présentés ci-dessus suggèrent des pistes, mais n'épuisent pas les questionnements sur les ressorts cognitifs disponibles pour trouver la méthode et les voies de son application sur le terrain. L'expérience montre d'ailleurs qu'ils sont souvent pratiqués de conserve, la question étant de savoir, selon les cas, de quelle manière et si cela est pertinent. En ouvrant ce débat, l'objectif final du colloque est donc de jauger les types de démarches scientifiques en présence, et au-delà, d'offrir un éclairage sur les formes de la recherche consacrées au pays khmer.
*En 1988, sous l'égide du CEDORECK (Centre de Documentation et de Recherche sur la Civilisation Khmère) et avec comme thème: «Études interdisciplinaires sur le Cambodge». Plusieurs initiatives ont, depuis, maintenu le contact entre les khmérisants, en particulier celles de Claude Jacques en 1993 (Symposium sur les sources del'histoire du pays khmer, Paris), de Pierre Lamanten 1995 (Bilan et perspectives des Études khmères, PhnomPenh) et de Sorn Samnang en 1996 (La khmérologie. Connaissance du passé et contribution au renouveau du Cambodge, PhnomPenh).
Modalités pratiques
Un résumé de la communication de 10 lignes (circa 1000 signes) accompagné du titre de l'article, du nom et du prénom, de l'institution d'attache, de l'adresse électronique, et d'un court curriculum vitæ de l'auteur devra être envoyé avant le 1er mai à l'adresse suivante: [colloque2011[atmark]free.fr]. Le comité scientifique seré serve le droit de retenir ou de rejeter les propositions, dans un intervalle d'un mois à compter de cette date butoir.
La langue de communication est le français; le temps de parole par intervenant sera de 25 minutes (15 minutes d'intervention suivies de 10 minutes de questions). Les textes définitifs pour publication des actes aux bons soins de la revue Péninsule devront parvenir au plus tard le 1er janvier 2012 [colloque2011[atmark]free.fr].

The indigenous or "highlander" people of Northeast Cambodia have traditionally been animistic ecosystem-based cultures whose way of life is a perfect manifestation of what is called "bioregionalism" in environmental studies. Extensive knowledge of local ecology, ability (and strong desire) to live autonomously and sustainably, and a keen awareness of "spirit places" –these are some of the defining features of bioregionalism and the Brao, Tampuan, Bunong and other highlander groups of Ratanakiri and Mondulkiri provinces have copious amounts of all three. During one month of homestays, interviews and treks to “sacred” forests, mountains, and lakes with different indigenous guides and families a picture emerged that will be of interest to bioregionalism and environmental studies scholars. In an ecological milieu haunted by malevolent spirits, the highlander people of Northeast Cambodia have lived in relative symbiosis with nature, that is, until the arrival of large numbers of economic migrants, agricultural plantations and foreign companies looking to cash in on untapped resources. These outsiders, often with the collusion of government officials, are threatening to extinguish the unique animist cultures that have thrived (despite repeated disruptions and turmoil) for centuries. This paper seeks to examine these issues from a bioregional perspective, emphasizing that the highlander cultures of this region are a great source of knowledge for living dynamic and sustainable lives in one’s own eco-region.

2011年1月18日（火）より1月23日（日）まで、立命館大学国際平和ミュージアム１階中野記念ホールにおいて、フォトグラファー内藤順司氏による写真展「甦るカンボジア――伝統織物の復興が、“暮らし”と“森”の再生に至るまで」が開催されます（入場無料）。
この写真展は、2月に東京広尾のJICA地球ひろばで開催された内藤順司写真展「甦るカンボジア」の大学巡回展という位置づけで、帝塚山大学、茨城キリスト教大学、北星学園大学での写真展に続く、第4弾となります。

この写真展は、2月に東京広尾のJICA地球ひろばで開催された内藤順司写真展「甦るカンボジア」の大学巡回展という位置づけで、帝塚山大学、茨城キリスト教大学、北星学園大学での写真展に続く、第4弾となります。

12/20 ASEAN大使団を招いての意見交換会＠京都大学東南アジア研究所
来る12月20日、京都大学東南アジア研究所にて、東南アジア各国のASEAN常駐代表（大使）と我が国の山田ASEAN担当大使をお招きし、日ASEAN関係の現状と展望について、様々な視点からの意見交換会を実施致します。オープニングには、白石隆教授（総合科学技術会議議員、日本貿易振興会アジア経済研究所所長）の基調講演も行い、意見交換の足がかりにしたいと思います。奮ってご参加頂ければ幸いです。
中国の台頭に伴って、日本のASEANに対する関心も高まりつつある中、来年はインドネシアの議長のもとに第1回拡大東アジア・サミット（EAS)が開かれます。また来年は日ASEAN首脳会談を経て、2003年以来となる新たな日ASEAN共同宣言・行動計画も発表される予定です。このように、日本の対ASEAN外交にとって、来年は大きな節目になることが予想されます。白石教授には、こうした状況の中で、アジアをめぐる共同体はどのような形になりつつあるのかについて話していただきます。

Salideth, a Cambodian residing in France during the Khmer rouge regime, returns to Cambodia in 1990s. Salideth, in France, is helped and supported by an old and rich Cambodian man who lost his son during the Khmer rouge regime. Salideth returns to Cambodia and tries to find his son for him. Using a photo of the young boy with a handwritten signature on the back, Salideth is advised to meet a girl working at Post Office in an attempt to find the similar signature.

カンボジア連続セミナー2010年度第5回「経済成長とカンボジアの農村：経済発展は貧困問題を解決するのか？」が2011年1月15日（土）に開催されます。
高い経済成長率を維持し続けるカンボジア。2000年には288ドルだった一人当たりのGDPは、この10年間で800ドル前後まで急増したが、国内では貧富の格差が拡大しており、依然として貧困問題の解決が大きな課題となっている。
こうしたなか、カンボジア政府は援助に頼るだけではなく、経済発展によって貧困問題を解決する方向に舵を切りつつある。そこで、農民や都市貧困層を対象とした小規模貸付（マイクロクレジット）や貧困層をターゲットとしたビジネス（BOPビジネス）などが注目を集めている。しかし、カネとモノを持ち込むことによって、人びとは経済的に自立し豊かになることができるのだろうか？ 農村の現状から見えてきた課題をもとに、これからのカンボジア支援のあり方について考える。

本展では、プノンペン国立博物館、シハヌーク・イオン博物館から、アンコール王朝最盛期の彫像作品と民族工芸品を中心に公開いたします。出展作品の中には2001年に上智大学アンコール遺跡国際調査団がバンテアイ・クデイ遺跡で発掘した仏像11点が含まれ、本展最大の見どころとなっています。ほかに三島由紀夫が戯曲の題材にしたと言われる、砂岩の丸彫による大彫像「鎮座する閻魔大王ヤマ天」など、日本初公開となる圧巻な彫刻や繊細な浮き彫り作品なども多数含まれています。数々の発掘によりアンコール王朝の歴史が書き換えられたという、その至高の精華が一堂に会します。ベールにつつまれたその歴史に触れ、アンコールの遺跡に息づく神々の息吹を感じて下さい。

To understand contemporary Cambodia, this film delves to the roots of its culture and its conflicts: it looks back to the impact of colonization by France and the struggle for independence in Indochina after the Second World War, the fears and the response to the thrust of their Vietnamese neighbors. It explores the years of Prince Norodom Sihanouk's rule, his juggle for peace, his charisma and contradictions and follows the Prince's overthrow, and traces Cambodia's destruction during the five years of war before Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge came to power and launched their revolution.

バングラデシュ・カンボジア・ケニアの縫製業 －日本に輸出する国・しない国－
バングラデシュやカンボジア、ケニアといった低所得国では、雇用者数の多い縫製産業は、産業発展や貧困削減に大きな役割を果たす可能性があります。
ジェトロ・アジア経済研究所では、2003年と2009年に上記3カ国の現地縫製工場を訪問し、各企業の生産性・収益性・賃金水準・労働条件等を調査しました。その調査に基づき、各国縫製業の発展可能性や貧困削減に対する貢献について、学術的な研究を行っています。
本講演会では、3カ国の縫製産業の紹介も交えながら、各国の貿易・企業調査データの分析結果を報告します。皆様のご参加をお待ちしています。

On this occasion, we invite you to a special screening of this film and for the first time, we propose you to watch the French subtitled version.
About my father follows the journey of a civil party in the trial of Khmer Rouge, Duch. For several years, Phung-Guth Sunthary had commenced an investigation into the death of her father, imprisoned and executed at the S21 security center in 1977. Between 1975 and 1979, at least 16,000 people have been tortured and executed in this secret prison run by the accused. Through the eyes of Mrs. Sunthary, the challenges of a major trial of the century are revealed...

His first film LOST LOVE is set in the time of the Khmer Rouge regime. The story is based on the true story of Chhay Bora’s mother-in-law Nun Sila, whose father is executed by the Khmer Rouge soldiers. LOST LOVE premiered at the Cambodian International Film Festival in October 2010.

12/11 SVA30周年キックオフ・イベント
SVAの設立総会が1981年12月10日であったことから、この日を「ＳＶＡの日」としています。
今年は、この日を機にスタートする「SVA30周年事業 人と絵本と未来をむすぶ『かけはし』プロジェクト」のキックオフ・イベントを開催いたします。
カンボジア難民キャンプの子どもたちへの『未来のかけはし』となるようにと、手探りで始めた移動図書館活動が、私たちの活動のはじまりでした。今では、タイ、カンボジア、ラオス、ミャンマー（ビルマ）難民キャンプ、アフガニスタンで『絵本のかけはし』を通じ教育環境の改善に取り組んでいます。
2011年12月、SVAは設立から30周年を迎えます。「共に生き、共に学ぶ」社会の実現を目指し、これからも苦難の中にある人々と日本の『人とのかけはし』であり続けたいと願っています。
来年一年間をかけて、これまで活動を支えていただいた多くの人々に感謝の気持ちを贈り届け、そして新たな仲間を増やしていく『かけはしプロジェクト』。このキックオフ・イベントにてお披露目とスタート宣言を行いたいと思います。
多くの皆さまのご参加をお待ちしています。

The first documentary film (1979, 90min) after the Khmer Rouge was shot by famous GDR filmmakers Walter Heynowski and Gerhard Scheumann.
The scenes filmed during spring 1979 are part of history: Phnom Penh left to rampant nature, heaps of skulls and destroyed faces. The reports from the survivors are moving and harrowing. Heynowski/Scheumann belonged to the few GDR filmmakers that attracted interest from abroad. Modeling themselves on the tradition of Soviet film pioneer Dziga Vertov, they perceived documentary films as an instrument of political intervention.

Emerging Dynamics in 'Developing' East and Southeast Asia

Jointly organized by the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore, Centre for Developing Areas Research, Department of Geography (Royal Holloway, University of London) and IGU Commission on Gender and Geography.
In recent decades, dramatic social and economic changes have swept the 'developing' East and Southeast Asian region, having profound implications for household structures and their members' everyday lives. Drawing on Douglass' (2006) concept of 'householding' this workshop seeks to enhance understanding
of the challenges being faced in the creation and sustaining of household-level social processes that cover all life-cycle stages and extend beyond the family. The workshop covers three broad themes of the up most contemporary and regional salience, namely (non)marriage and divorce; inter-generational questions
concerning ageing and care; and finally, issues surrounding migration and the 'left behind'.
Bringing together scholars working on these interconnected trends, the workshop aims to shed light on the changing household structures and dynamics which are increasingly shaping the domestic landscapes of some of Asia's lesser understood country contexts (including Burma, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Laos, Thailand, The Philippines, and Vietnam).
These are countries defined as falling in the United Nations 'medium' and 'low' human development index 2009/2010. Identifying differences and commonalities in terms of patterns and experiences, the workshop has been designed to encourage a comparative country perspective (whilst also being sensitive to household variations in terms of type and headship, gender, age, life-course, and rural/urban differentiation).
We welcome papers that draw on innovative and original empirical research that speak to current theoretical and conceptual debates on the 'household'. Among other themes, papers should address one or more of the following topics concerning household trends in 'developing' East and Southeast Asia:
(1) (Non)Marital and Divorcee Householding
This theme considers the stark and recent occurrence of rising rates, particularly in urban areas, of non-marriage, separation and divorce and what this means in terms of cause, effect and experiences. Papers in this panel should pave the way for the discussion and development of household models which not only concern themselves with the so-called 'functioning' of domestic affairs but also the 'bargaining' that occurs in the process of household dissolution as part of the dynamism, variability and mutability of home that has been largely sidelined in academic debate.
(2) Intergenerational Householding: Ageing and Care
Given that East and Southeast Asia has the largest number of older persons in the world, ageing and its implications for eldercare is a critical theme. With ageing still regarded centrally as a family concern in most countries in the region, the changing ability of families to care for and support older members within the broader context of state and community welfare systems is an issue that should be the central focus of papers in this panel.
(3) Mobile Householding: Migration and the 'Left Behind'
Extending debates on the emerging dynamics of (non)-marriage, this theme focuses on the impact of migration on householding in East and Southeast Asia as a hotspot of human mobility both internationally, at an intra-regional level, and within national borders. Papers should discuss, among other issues, household composition as determinants of migration, householding negotiations created by the movement of people away from the
residential unit, to new household units (for example, as foreign 'mail order' brides or domestic workers) and
potentially back again, and the implications of such movements as key constituent (or disruption) of households
(and types).
SUBMISSION OF PROPOSALS
Paper proposals should include a title, an abstract (300 words max.) and a short bio-note of the author(s) (200 words).

The Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center in Phnom Penh, led by the filmmaker Rithy Panh, sponsored in 2008 and 2009 workshops for creative production by young Cambodian visual artists, conducted by two artists who are survivors of the genocide, Vann Nath and Séra.
Working with the Center’s archives and entering into dialogue with their elders, these young artists achieved works that express the tragedy whose traces are still borne by their country. Although they did not experience this tragedy themselves, their work constitutes a living memory of it. This book and the DVD accompanying it tell their story.
To celebrate the launch of the book “Cambodia, the Memory of workshop”, the Bophana Center is pleased to organize:
The Screening of Guillaume S. Petit Documentary related to this workshop (38 min, English subtitles)
And to welcome one of the main actors of this project: the Cambodian Painter Vann Nath, who will be present to answer the questions and sign the books, for sale at the Bophana Center.

2010年度カンボジア連続セミナー（第4回）
「カンボジアの土地問題：土地登記制度をめぐる法的課題」
カンボジアは、1989年に憲法を改正して土地を私有を認めたものの、土地所有権を認定するための法制度や登記制度の整備が遅れ、1992年に土地法が制定されたにもかかわらず、所有権を登記するための制度がなかったため、所有権の認定は行われない状態が続いていた。
そのような中、暫定的に土地を占有する権利を登録する制度が作られたが、登録には時間と費用がかかるため、実際には登録作業はあまり進んでいない。2001年に土地法が改正され、所有権を登記する制度も整えられたが、国土全体の登記を終えるには今後10年はかかると言われている。また、急速な市場経済化にともない土地取引も活発になり、それとともに土地をめぐる紛争も多発するようになっている。
本セミナーでは、カンボジアで現在起こっている土地紛争を理解するための法的な枠組及び土地登記制度を紹介し、問題点の整理を試みる。

While more entities are recognising the role women play in and outside newsrooms, prevailing mindsets and traditions tend to slow down progress in gender equality. The "Women's Media Center" (WMC) is a Phnom Penh NGO using TV/radio to promote social change. Recently filmmaker Nico Mesterharm led a workshop, where 18 WMC staff members produced three documentaries with a gender focus. They tell stories of a female moto-dub, a teenage newspaper seller and the deceased grandmother of one of the workshop's participants. Be our guest for tonight's premiere screenings!

"Coming Home: the odyssey of upland Khmer Villagers in the aftermath of the Khmer Rouge"
Between 1999 and 2002 the residents of the village “O’Thmaa” began returning to the land that was their home thirty years beforehand. The impacts of the Khmer Rouge regime, two civil wars and repeated forced evacuations made the return ‘home’ (in all its meanings) ambiguous and extraordinarily challenging. Many of the moral pillars of society were compromised or had vanished altogether, deep scars from the Khmer Rouge revolution and genocide remained fresh, and extreme poverty added additional hardships. Despite these obstacles, however, changes started occurring within the village during my time there that could be seen as small steps toward returning to a sense of normalcy, security and belonging.
Based on participant-observation fieldwork from 2002-2003 and again in 2010, this paper examines some of the means by which moral mending has, and is, taking place. In the early part of the decade through the mediums of kinship, trust, commensality, sharing stories, and village rituals villagers found ways of softening the past and building a sense of community once again. This process occurred within the milieu of new forms of modernity and the impacts of international development agencies. Now, seven years later, significant changes have occurred including the advent of ECCC Khmer Rouge Tribunal and a rise in ecotourism to the area. What are the impacts of the processes on social healing and village identity? How might the tribunal in particular augment a sense of security and belonging? Using ethnographic evidence this paper explores these changes through the themes of moral order, memory, and social change.

Journée culturelle organisée par l'Association des Etudiants de la Section Cambodgienne à l'Inalco,
A l'Université Paris-Dauphine, Place du Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny, Paris - Métro Dauphine.
Le patrimoine khmer est identifié pour certaines œuvres d’exception qui ont reçu une reconnaissance internationale, telles que:
- le site d’Angkor, siège des anciennes capitales (IXème XVème siècle), inscrit au patrimoine mondial matériel de l'UNESCO en 1992, ainsi que le site de Preah Vihear en 2008;
- le ballet royal en 2003, le théâtre d’ombres en 2005, qui font partie de la liste des chefs d'œuvre immatériels de l'humanité de cette même institution.
La célébrité de ces œuvres tient non seulement à leur valeur intrinsèque, mais aussi à la médiatisation qui en est faite sur la scène internationale. Or, le patrimoine artistique khmer passé et présent ne se limite pas à ces manifestations. De nombreuses autres formes ont une visibilité moindre malgré leur ancrage ancien pour les Cambodgiens, dont, les genres de musique, de danse, de théâtre et de littérature.
Cette journée culturelle organisée par l'Association des Etudiants de la Section Cambodgienne de l'INALCO, a pour propos de montrer des exemples représentatifs de ces manifestations artistiques qui ne sont connus hors du Cambodge que par un public averti. Des contributions à caractère théorique par des experts, des chercheurs et des praticiens engageront la réflexion et susciteront le débat dans la salle.
L'attention est portée sur l'époque contemporaine avec une double interrogation:
- D'une part, nous nous questionnerons sur la façon dont la nouvelle génération de cambodgiens fait référence, vivifie, réinvestit les traditions reçues dans la production artistique actuelle.
- D'autre part, nous nous pencherons sur la relation des œuvres anciennes et nouvelles avec le public: à qui sont-elles destinées ? Dans quelles cadres et dans quelles conditions sont-elles communiquées, transmises, voire commercialisées ?
Un programme de courtes représentations artistiques, musique, danse, théâtre, littérature orale et écrite, donne corps aux propos en question, et précise l'objet des débats. Ce programme est:
- d'une part constitué de documents filmés des artistes cambodgiens à l'œuvre au Cambodge.
- d'autre part il est incarné par des artistes de la diaspora cambodgienne représentée aussi bien par des maîtres anciens que par leurs jeunes héritiers de France.
A travers quelques exemples de réalisations, nous traiterons la question des processus actuels d'évolution des pratiques artistiques.

－カンボジア最初の現地NGOケマラからの報告－
コイ・パラニー氏（Ms. Koy Phallany）「ケマラ」（KHEMARA）エクゼクティブ・ディレクター
諸外国との紛争、20年以上におよぶ内戦で、飢餓、虐殺などにより数百万人もの死者が出たとされるカンボジア。「ケマラ（KHEMARA）」は、パリ和平協定が結ばれる（1991年10月）3ヶ月前の1991年7月、カンボジア初の現地NGOとして設立されました。 ケマラは、設立当初より困窮する都市貧困者の女性と子どもの支援に取り組んでおり、現在は、性産業従事者の女性を対象としたHIV撲滅に向けた啓発活動、女性を対象とした性と生殖に関する健康(リプロダクティブ・ヘルス)の推進、保育所の運営、孤児支援などを行っています。
プノンペン市ルセイ・ケオ郡でケマラが運営する保育所6カ所のうち、2保育園（ミッタヒープ村保育所、スピーン・ポー保育所）では、2006年より現在まで、日本の公益信託アジア・コミュニティ・トラスト（ACT 下参照）より運営支援を受けており、貧困家庭児童の教育と心身の健全な発育、そして小学校への進学などを促進しています。 このたび、「ACT30周年記念シンポジウム」（11/2）で来日される予定の「ケマラ」エクゼクティブ・ディレクターのコイ・パラニ－女史を迎え、カンボジアの復興とともに歩んだケマラの約18年間の活動と、カンボジアの女性と子どもたちの現状、問題・課題についてお話を伺います。
ケマラの保育所活動では、毎月のPTA会合の開催を始め、親の貯蓄グループの組織化を働きかけ、保護者が運営費の一部を負担するなど、コミュニティの積極的な参加と自立運営についての意識が非常に高くなっています。日本の団体・労働組合との連携や、日本の学生グループの訪問受け入れなど、日本とのつながりもつよいケマラの活動について、そしてカンボジアの今について、お話を聞いてみませんか？

アジアの貧困からの脱却とマイクロファイナンスの役割
―マイクロファイナンスの仕組みとその実態を知る―
マイクロファイナンス（小口金融）は、開発途上国社会でとくに貧困層―スラムなど都市居住者、土地なし農民、貧しい農民・漁民など―に向けられた小規模の金融サービスで、貧困層の人たちの貧困からの脱却に大きな成果を挙げているソーシャル・ビジネスです。
講演者アリス・アリップ氏は、29歳（1986年）のとき、僅かな資金でNGOを設立し、土地なし農民の支援を開始。その2年後から小口融資事業を始め、97年にはCARD Bankを設立。現在、CARD Bankは、CARD NGOと協力してフィリピン全土で120万人の貧困女性に金融サービス（2010年7月現在の融資残高約80億円）を行い、さらには、隣国のベトナムやカンボジアにおけるマイクロファイナンス機関の能力向上に協力。
セミナーでは、アリップ氏からマイクロファイナンスの仕組みと融資の実態についての基調講演を受け、その後、インドの農村開発NGOおよび子ども・女性支援NGOのリーダー、そしてマイクロファイナンス支援活動を行う日本のNGO関係者によるパネル・デイスカッションを行います。また、会場からの自由な質疑応答を通して、マイクロファイナンスの仕組みとその実態についての理解を深める機会を提供します。

この度、金沢美術工芸大学国際交流センターと、アジア工芸教育交換プロジェクトは、森本氏が関わられてきた伝統織物制作と森の再生プロジェクトを通して、「手の記憶」によるものづくり、環境に根差したものづくりについて、お話を頂きます。

Oeur Sokuntevy studied painting at the Phare Ponleu Selpak. She became a feminist by default. She rejects the model from the Ch’bab Srey (Code of Conduct for Women from the 19th century). Her works on paper question the familial roles of women, their social status and intimate relationships, as well as her own identity. There is a sadness and a longing that is present in her work which emanates from her sense of social displacement Sareth began his studies at the Phare Ponleu Selpak School. Since 2002, he has continued his studies in France, and earned the Diplôme National Supérieur d'Études des Arts Plastiques. He offers us different kinds of work-which invite us to discover his imaginary space - situated at the intersection of performance, of the figurative, of the abstract, of the theatrical and the ironic -where the visible is always next to the invisible.

Sin Rithy chose a very strong theme in Cambodia "beliefs".
In the gardens of Villa Langka, the opening starts with a press conference.This is an opportunity to meet the artist and to learn more about the association Phare Ponleu Selpak.
The exhibition runs until Sunday, 21 November 2010.

More than 20 distinct ethnic groups are living in Cambodia's isolated mountain areas. In 2010, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) piloted a project to support the formation of Village Disaster Management Teams in Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri. The new documentary "RISING ABOVE NATURAL DISASTERS" (2010, 16mins) by Ian White looks at the process and impact of village team creation, as IOM helped indigenous communities plan and prepare to respond to potential natural disasters. Also screening: "FOREST MOUNTAIN VOICES" – an indigenous community media project based in Ratanakiri, Cambodia, staffed entirely by youth from the Tampeun, Jarai, and Kreung tribes.

シンポジウムCultural Heritage in the Resurgence of Nationalism「ナショナリズム復興のなかの文化遺産」が2010年11月21日（日）に開催されます。
Since the 1990s when the so-called native cultures experienced the onslaught of globalization,the world has witnessed a revival of nationalism and ethnicity, elements seeking to repair and re-unify a shattered society. In this symposium we shall probe the ways and means whereby cultural heritage was employed as a means to nationalist education, and the issues involved in its conservation and use with regard to the rebuilding national identity, in the nations of Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
