CKS Lecture Series on Special Topics
Experiencing Cambodia's Future through the Arts
Svay Sareth
Venue: CKS Conference Hall, Wat Damnak, Siem Reap
Date: Saturday 21st December, 2013
Time: 8 -12 am
This CKS Lecture Series on the Arts draws on the successful 4th Annual International Siem Reap conference on “Divergent Approaches to Cambodian Visual Cultures” co-organized with APSARA Authority, The University of Sydney, The École Française d’Extrême Orient and Friends Of Khmer Culture.
The purpose of this series of lectures is to gather Cambodian and foreign artists, students and the wider public to explore modern arts as they relate to Cambodia. Participants will actively engage in artistic activities using a wide range of techniques such as video, painting, sculpture and metal and wood work.
The lectures will take place on a Saturday each month and will be held in different provinces around Cambodia.
This month, Cambodian artist Svay Sareth, will take the Siem Reap audience on a journey into Cambodia’s future. Participants will be encouraged to discuss the theory behind contemporary art practices and reflect on the political, economic and cultural future of the country through painting and the manipulation of audio-visual media.
